I am a wife and the mother of three daughters.  I live in the intermountain west of the the United States.  With my family, we have traveled all over the United States.  We have lived in the North, the South, and the West.  Virginia is by far my favorite place to live.  I love the history, the scenery, the recreation, and the people there.  There's always so much to do in the Commonwealth.  And if you're a history lover like me, go and see this glorious state!

It's no surprise that I wrote about a large family, because I grew up in one, with two sisters and two brothers.  We are all very close, and we laugh and cry together, STILL!

Through Tempest Forged is full of family drama...with the binding love, fear, and comedy that often goes with being part of a large clan.

I am a full time writer now.  I belong to the Historical Novel Society, Romance Writers of America, the Blue Quill Society, the League of Utah Writers, Fiction Writers of America, and the Eden Writers' Circle.

I have many years of experience as an elementary school teacher.  Even now, I work on literacy with local libraries and schools.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, my family moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia when I was seven years old.  I grew up there.  I am a graduate of Old Dominion University.  I've taught school in Virginia, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Alabama, and Utah.  I currently make my home in Utah.
I have been to most of the fifty states.  Last summer, my husband and I visited England and Scotland.  Trips for research and leisure to Ireland, Italy, and Greece are in the making.  I love visiting other places:  the people, the sites, the food, and yes, the history!

My News....

In April, I was interviewed by Jamie Lampros, staff writer of the Standard-Examiner.  It was so much fun having the interview, and I felt honored to be able to share a bit of myself with the public.

Last month, I had a book signing and sale at Hastings, in Harrisville, UT.  It was very successful, and there is talk of another signing this summer.

My book is being carried by Barnes & Noble and B. Dalton in several locations across the country.  So, it's very easy to go in and purchase or order it there!  Of course, you can always order it on-line at Amazon, or a Barnes & Noble on-line store!

On May 12, I was a speaker at the Blue Quill Society Annual Workshop.  It was held in Ogden, Utah.  I gave an inspirational talk about believing in oneself as a writer and artist--then making it happen.  It was very well received by the participants.  I had such a good time talking to the attendees and speaking!  And at the end, I sold books and had a signing.

On May 22, I was the Guest of Honor at a book club event.  It was a wonderful event with champagne, wine, and hors d'oevres!  The readers had so many questions about my writing process, the extensive research, and the life and times of the colonial Americans. These ladies are anxiously awaiting the sequel to Through Tempest Forged.  At the conclusion of the party, I signed many books.

I traveled back home to Virginia in June, to Williamsburg and Jamestown, and Yorktown. I did lots of promtional work for my novel, and with an article in the Beacon, and a hugely successful "Meet the Author" and book signing at the City Center Barnes & Noble, in Virginia Beach.  It was great to be home, and to see some familiar places and faces from the past.

With my talented friends, the Eden Writers' Circle, we are planning a writing conference for October 2007.  We are hard at work to present great speakers and professionals in the field.  We are planning an inspirational and educational program for all who attend.  It will be a fabulous event on October 19 & 20, in the beautiful alpine Ogden Valley. Please visit our website at www.Edenwriters.org for more information.   Happy Reading!
